If you'd like to buy something special, original and real representative for this area the best place is Quinchamali, a small village 27 Km of Chillan. The craftsmen living here are known for their basketwork, black ceramics, textiles, guitars and primitive paintings. If you happen to be in town during February there's a handicraft fair. To get there, take the bus from the local terminal, it's only 30 minutes.
