Under no circumstances buy from the airport shop because it's pretty expensive. The municipal market is also expensive, but you can take a look at what there's on sale. The best is to buy the stone moais or wood carvings from the local craftsmen themselves, like Juan Acka or Antonio Tepano or Hipolito Tucki, who also know a lot of things about their old culture.
